THE END OF THE BOW
Carl Gari & Abdullah Miniawy

Experimental Live Session, 2024

“The End of the Bow” compels the musician to flip it. The archer cannot draw an excessively long bow; similarly, it would compromise the balance between him and his symmetry. Just as a hand cannot applaud on its own, but the length of the fingers can grant the hand more flexibility as an exception. Abdullah Miniawy, Carl Gari, and Justin Urbach blend the essence of color, gender, and sound using their exceptional performances in the final session of the film in Neunburg's house, facing the forest, which was sold and later barred from their return. Justin Urbach places the dramatic lines as he understands them. In a sci-fi journey, four boys accidentally use a device to see the future, inadvertently imprisoning Abdullah Miniawy in his past, envisioning images of revolution and motherhood. For years, the house in Neunburg vorm Wald, a little town in the Bavarian Forest, served as the birthplace of all the music by Carl Gari & Abdullah Miniawy. The grandfather of Carl Gari's Jonas Yamer, built it after World War II, having arrived in Germany as a war refugee from Czechoslovakia with nothing. The house features a unique 1950s-style interior and a long-abandoned indoor swimming pool. Unfortunately the house was sold recently. As a stroke of luck in misfortune, Carl Gari & Abdullah Miniawy managed to capture their final session in this profoundly magical place of their creativity, immortalized in “The End of the Bow”. All three musical compositions performed in the film have not been released to the public so far and will be featured on the group's upcoming album.
